We're Looking for Veterans Interested in Employment
Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) is working with the Colorado
Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) on a program to train
veterans to work in a "call" center to help consumers reduce their
cost of energy.
Veterans will be trained as Energy Efficiency Consultants and work
with an Energy Provider's (Xcel Energy, for example) customers who
have had an Energy Audit performed on their residence.
The Energy Efficiency Consultants will assist customers who are not
sure what the audit report says or what their next steps should be
toward making the recommended improvements and how they can benefit
from the "rebates" offered by the Energy Provider.
RRCC is recruiting veterans for a 5 week (200 hour) PAID training
program to learn the ins and outs of the Energy Audit results and
excellent customer relationship skills. The training will be followed
by a paid internship at a call center, which has been contracted by
both an Energy Provider and RRCC to provide the interns.
Energy Efficiency Consultants will be paid about $15 per hour during
the Internship period by the call center. The days of work and hours
of work will be determined by the call center.
The 5 week training is at no cost to the student.
College credit can be granted to students who successfully complete
the course work and internship.
An opportunity exists for continued employment at the call center if
the Energy Efficiency Consultant program is successful in getting
customers to implement energy saving ideas in their homes and use the
available Rebate monies provided by the Energy Suppliers.
Assessments and training are scheduled to begin May 14th. If
interested contact Chuck Beck (RRCC) at chuck.beck@rrcc.edu.
