[CPN] Electronics Recycling "Eco-rally" on Saturday, April 21, 2012

Celebrate Earth Day by Recycling Your Old Electronics and Clothing at Denver’s Eco-rally on Saturday, April 21, 2012

Show your Earth Day spirit by recycling your old electronics and clothing on Saturday, April 21.  Metech Recycling will be accepting all types of electronics items for recycling at a significantly reduced price of $5 per vehicle (limit of 2 "screens" per vehicle, see below for more details).  To participate in the Eco-rally Electronics Recycling Collection Event, residents will need to make an appointment online at www.DenverGov.org/EcoRally.

Goodwill will also be at the event, accepting all types of clothing items for reuse and recycling at no charge. No appointment is necessary to just drop off clothing. Goodwill serves over 18,000 individuals annually in our community through their workforce development programs, which train people to find tools to succeed at work and in life. Clothing donations support Goodwill’s programs, and the individuals with disabilities and barriers to employment that they employ at their 25 retail stores throughout Colorado. Learn more at www.goodwilldenver.org.

LOCATION:  Auraria Campus, Tivoli Center, 900 Auraria Parkway

ELECTRONICS APPOINTMENT TIMES:  9 AM to 3 PM.  Make your electronics recycling appointment online at www.DenverGov.org/EcoRally

ELECTRONICS FEE:  $5 per vehicle, cash or check only.  Limit of 2 “screens” (televisions, monitors and/or laptops) per vehicle.  Additional screens will cost an additional fee of $5 per screen.  No limits on other electronics without screens.  This event is open to all of the public (no commercial or business recycling).

ELECTRONICS ITEMS ACCEPTED:  Televisions, monitors, CPUs, laptops, printers, scanners, faxes, keyboards, mice, stereos, external hard drives and storage devices, cellular phones, telephones, DVRs, VCRs, digital cameras, video recorders, MP3 players, and some small appliances such as microwaves.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:  Air conditioners, large appliances, vacuum cleaners, car batteries or household batteries (rechargeable batteries okay).

Properly and responsibly recycling electronic equipment is very important. Electronics contain a variety of harmful, and in some cases, even toxic substances, that when discarded can pose risks to our health and the environment.  That is why the City & County of Denver is partnering with Comcast Cares Day, Metech Recycling and Goodwill to make this event possible.
