Namaste everyone,
On Feb-18, we did a fund raising group dance program 'Thirkan' @ Berkmar High School to raise funds for 'post war vistims' in Sri Lanka. Various dance school hold spellbound performances during the event. It was a houseful event for Sewa International. Sewa volunteer Prashant Bhardwaj did an excellent job as a overall coordinator of the event.
This event was very successful. In total, We raised $18,402.90 during Thirkan. Our total expenses for this event were $4,694.87. It means we raised $13,708.03 from the event. This is the 1st time that we ever raised that much funds from any event.
If you remember, we have also raised $2,173 on Saanvi's 1st birthday for same cause. So, in total, Atlanta Sewa chapter is ready to contribute $15,881.03 (approx. Rs.1.9 million SriLankan Rupees) towards SriLanka's post war victims.
Soon, I will work with Sewa national team to transfer $15,006 (leaving other amount for admin and transfer fees) to Sri Lanka. A few donors wanted to send their donation to specific projects. Keeping that in mind, We are thinking to distribute our funds to following projects in Srilanka:
Homeless children shelter : $2,001
Children Education Center : $3,001
Young Widows project : $4,001
Temple Renovation : $3,001
Food and Clothings : $1,001
Disabled people : $2,001
