FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Denver Office of Strategic Partnerships releases request for proposals

DENVER, CO — Tuesday, June 5, 2012 — The Denver Office of Strategic Partnerships (DOSP) is soliciting proposals from qualified agencies to provide energy efficiency services in two separate areas: Residential Energy Efficiency Services and/or Nonprofit Energy Efficiency Services for 2013.

Work within either service category will include outreach, energy audits, energy efficiency upgrades and/or energy efficiency education to residents or nonprofit facilities within the City and County of Denver.

The Program Overview and Application are available for download at the DOSP website: http://www.denvergov.org/strategicpartnerships.  A pre-proposal meeting will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012, 9:30 a.m. in room 4.I.5 at the Webb Municipal Office Building, 201 W. Colfax Ave. Proposals are due July 9, 2012.

DOSP manages approximately $2 million annually from the Public Service Company of Colorado (Xcel Energy) as part of the Xcel Energy Franchise Agreement with the City and County of Denver. Funds are targeted for low-income energy efficiency programs for individuals and nonprofit agencies. DOSP administers Xcel Energy Assistance Funds for such priorities as subsidizing nonprofit energy efficiency programs, low-income single unit and multifamily housing energy audits, energy efficiency, summer cooling, weatherization programs, the creation and preservation of energy efficient low-income housing, the creation of energy efficient multi-tenant nonprofit centers and/or other projects as authorized by the Facilities and Energy Efficiency Advisory Board.

Prioritization and distribution of the Xcel Franchise Funds is overseen by the Facilities and Energy Efficiency Advisory Board. Appointed by the Mayor, the board is comprised of representatives from local nonprofit organizations, Denver area businesses, City agencies and City Council.

The Denver Office of Strategic Partnerships (DOSP) was created in January 2004 by the City and County of Denver to serve as a liaison between local government and the nonprofit sector.  DOSP serves as a catalyst to leverage the best of Denver’s public and nonprofit sectors to engage in innovative and collaborative work. DOSP believes that by working collectively, the public and nonprofit sectors can be even more efficient and effective in strengthening Denver’s communities.
