[emrat:1594] Norm & Jay's Garth Reunion Trip

Hi Guys:

A preliminary report fromn Norm Wright and Jay Clawson on our Pacific Northwest trip.

Took 2 days to cover 1000 miles to John Day Oregon for the Chief Joseph BMW Rally.  About 520 riders in attendance.  Most were on BMWs but saw 2 Tigers and a Speed Triple.  One of the Tigers, in British Racing Green, was outfitted with a home made, but very slick, side car and the owner's Golden Retriever thus attended the rally too, complete with doggie eye goggles.

Jay and I agreed that the riding in east-central Oregon is some of the very best in the world.  Many curves, elevation changes, environmental changes, super nice roads and virtually no traffic.  The rally was good.  More info and pictures to follow.

We then went to the top of Mt. Hood on Monday for lunch and it was snowing at the top, not sticking to the roads thankfully.  Their ski resort is open year round!

Met Garth Webb the next day down from Seattle and we went to Mt. St. Helens then down the coast of Oregon on HY 101 after a stop at the Evergreen Air and Space Museum SW of Portland.  Very cool museum. Then on to Crater Lake where the weather was cool but clear. Camped out all the way.

Jay's still out there but I'm back after a not so fun 2 day ride across the Nevada and Utah desert in 100+ temps with 40-50 MPH winds.

Everyone needs to put Central Oregon on their ride bucket list.
