[The Network] FW: Resident Leader Scholarship Application

Good Morning!

(Please see email below)

For those of you who work in organizations that work directly with people who live in affordable housing (which I mean to include a full range of options: shelters, public housing, subsidized apartments, tax credit properties, etc.) - Housing Colorado is looking for organizations to help bring resident leaders into the conversation.

As part of our annual conference, we are offering scholarships (up to $1000) to organizations to host/mentor a resident leader at the conference. We understand that there are many barriers which prevent our clients from fully participating in the processes that directly affect their lives (lack of child care, reliable transportation, time to volunteer...) - and hope these funds enable people who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate to come to the conference and share what it is like, from the consumer's perspective, to live in affordable housing, and how that opportunity has impacted their lives.

The email below does a good job describing the application process. The Father Ed Judy House has taken resident leaders for the past two years - so if anyone is interested - I would be happy to discuss our experiences with logistics, selection, the application process etc.

I think this is a fantastic way to engage your resident leaders. It seems like for those of us who work in this field, we all know a few clients who are driven to engaging policy makers - who are passionate about making a difference for other people who are going through what they are or what they have worked hard to overcome. This is an opportunity to bring their voice to the table.

Sincerely,
Wendy
