PRESS RELEASE

Enjoy movies in the parks 2012 Season
Denver Parks and Recreation announces its summer movies

DENVER, CO — May 17, 2012 — Denver’s 2012 Movies in the Park Series has something for everyone. Bring the family or plan a night out with friends to see some of the brightest stars, both on the screen and in the sky, at one of the Denver’s Movies in the Parks. Entering the series’ seventh year, Denver Parks and Recreation will host, along with our partners and sponsors, 16 free movies in parks across the city. These G-, PG- and PG -13 rated films start at dusk with plenty of pre-movie opportunities to play and enjoy dinner.  In partnership with Outdoor Cinema Network, all movies will be shown in Blu-ray format on inflatable screens over 24-feet wide and with a high-quality sound system. Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets or low-seating lawn chairs to enhance their viewing experience.  Picnics are welcome; food will also be available on-site.

·         We’ll kick off the Movies at Skyline Park June 30, with Forrest Gump. Enjoy one of the eight Skyline Park movies sponsored by Southwest Airlines and hosted by the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District with musical entertainment kicking off each show.

·         For the second year in a row, the Civic Center Conservancy will host four “Bike-In” movies at Civic Center Park.  The Sunday and Friday night shows will feature a state-of-the-art 40-foot screen and a festive atmosphere – including gourmet food trucks – before each show.  Bike racks will be provided by the 2012 USA Pro Challenge.

·          Lala’s Wine Bar and Pizzeria will be at Governors Park on August 22.  This movie will include a pre-show dinner menu to enjoy on a street-side patio.  This movie is To Be Determined, visit www.denvergov.org/parksandrec for more information.

Sponsors of the 2012 Movies in the Park include Southwest Airlines; Downtown Denver Business Improvement District; Kaiser Permanente; Colorado Rapids; Mile High United Way, FirstBank, Denver Post Community and Lala’s Wine Bar and Pizzeria.
