Subject: Update on the Red, White and 16 Master Plan Process

Dear Red, White and 16 Master Plan Participants;

The Red Rock Canyon Master Plan process was put on hold in late 2011 to provide an opportunity for the Parks Department, Friends Groups, and Partner Organizations to clarify roles and responsibilities for all regional parks and open spaces city-wide.  At that time, the City made a commitment to provide updates to Red Rock Canyon Master Plan participants on what is now known as the Relationship Building process and to restart the Red Rock Canyon Master Plan process once the Relationship Building process was complete.

In April, individual meetings were held with representatives from eighteen different Friends Groups and Partner Organizations to identify strengths in our working relationships that we can build upon as well as areas for improvement.  Designees from each of these groups, along with City staff, will be meeting over the next 2 to 3 months to tackle these opportunities and challenges in an effort to enhance relationships and ultimately maximize volunteers' diverse contributions.

We will continue to keep you informed on the Relationship Building process and will be sending information regarding the restart of the Red Rock Canyon, White Acres and Section 16 Master Plan process in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your patients with us during this process.

Sarah
