Subject: Adults without Dependent Children Update
Hello,
I hope everyone is enjoying summer and managing to stay cool. When we decided to cancel the July Adults without Dependent Children (AwDC) Advisory Committee meeting I promised an update on the enrollment and activities for this month.
There are currently about 7,500 people receiving benefits. We downloaded the waitlist the morning of the 11th and there are more than 3,500 clients on it. This month we will be utilizing the randomized member selection process to enroll approximately 2,500 clients who will receive benefits effective July 1, 2012. This process, of selecting the clients and moving them from waitlist into benefits, will take several weeks. We have to randomly select the clients and then each of those approximately 2,500 clients’ cases must be opened in our eligibility system and moved from waitlist to benefits.
In the future, the 5th day of each month will be the last day for clients to be determined eligible and placed on the waitlist and included in that month’s random selection. If the 5th falls on a weekend or holiday, the last day will be the first business day after the 5th. The 5th of the month will be the first day of the process which will include determination of number of open positions, random selection and movement from waitlist to benefits for those selected. The length of time it will take to move everyone selected will depend on the number of open positions.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. As always, thank you for your support and participation. We could not have implemented this expansion and provided benefits to 10,000 Coloradans without it.
Best,
Susan
